DIRECTOR VACANCY - MEETING
Our next regular Board of Directors meeting is Tuesday, January 9, 1:00pm, at the PARC Pavilion. At that time, we will be electing a new Director to fill a vacancy recently created by the resignation of a Board member. We are still seeking candidates to fill the position. Today’s Fix is a day early to allow for accepting letters of interest from the membership through tomorrow, JANUARY 5, to be a director with a term expiring at our Annual Members Meeting on March 28, 10am in the PAC. (See below)
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Save the Date. Thursday morning, March 28, 2024, at 10am, in the PAC, is the Annual Member’s Meeting when, among other matters, successful candidates for open positions on the Board of Directors will be elected. It is not too early to start thinking about throwing your hat in the ring to declare your candidacy. The terms of several of our current Board members will be expiring then, creating five vacancies. Now is your time to step up and take an active role in the governance of your Club. More information will be forthcoming in the next weeks concerning the process. Plan accordingly, and thank you in advance for your participation.
SIGN-UPS
Word around the campus is that there have been some disagreements or misunderstandings about whether you need to sign-up to play and what a player’s status entitles them to. These are basic guidelines/rules we all need to be aware of Anyone wishing to play should sign-up in the Den for the specific time and court they want. With approx 1200 members - and the courts can only accommodate 72 players at any one time (allowing 6 per court … 4 playing and 2 rotating in) - the courts are always very likely over-crowded during the season. Know this, if your name is on the Wait List, you could be elevated to Play status any time up to the time play begins. Notice will be via email. So, you could get that email at 8:59am to play at 9am. It has happened before. If you are not close to the courts around your time, please take yourself off the Wait List so as not to appear to be a “No Show”. Also, being at the courts while on Wait List status doesn’t entitle you to play, UNLESS there is an opening or you are invited to play by the six signed-up players.
COOKOUT
Reminder about Saturday’s cookout. Barb Kabzinsky is preparing cabbage rolls for your enjoyment. And Karen Toof will be making pulled pork for the Jan 20th event. But, unless we have members step up to be in charge of a further Saturday cookout - other than the usual few - we will have to consider discontinuing them. For now tho, bring $5 for your food and entertainment, along with a dish to pass to serve about 8 people. CAUTION, sign-ups end at 5:30pm Thursdays, so the cooks can order/purchase the items needed to feed you. If you are signed-up in Den at that time, you’re expected to be there or pay the $5 fee, even if you decide to cancel later.
PLAYING WITH A MENTOR
Time is short to consider our newest event, Playing with a Mentor. Limiting the event now to the first 4 sign-ups (presently, there is a Wait List going) beginning Saturday, Jan 6 at 1pm and weekly after, to have a Mentor watch you play and give feedback.
NEXT TOURNAMENT
Mark your calendars for the next fun event … the Member/Non-Member/Guest, Jr-Sr Combined Age Tournament. Taking place on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27. Entries are due at noon on Monday, January 22, $10/person. As always, there will be a hot dog lunch from 11am to 2pm and raffle each day. See the flyer we sent via Den and the website for details of play. Questions ask Tom Asbel .
